Wicked December 22nd Matinee Semi-Review thing#1

Okay, since I have seen a couple of threads on reviews on touring productions, I thought I might as well share my experience.

Well, let me just say, I sat in Upper Balcony Row T, which at the Fox is pretty high up. It's third from last row in the house, and you figure the theatre holds over 4,000 so I was up there.

Let me just say, this was probably as amazing as sitting in third row in Chicago.

Carmen Cusack: She WAS AMAZING. She got a HUGE applause after Wizard and I. Even an elderly woman sitting next to me shouted "YOU GO GIRL!" after the song. She is amazing. She is probably one of my favorite Elphabas now. She really seemed to be having a GREAT time up (well from where I was down) there. Oh! A question, to anyone else who has seen her, does she always give that "I will kill ALL OF YOU" look as she sings her final note in Defying Gravity? Just wondering. All in all, she gave an amazing, emotional performance.

Katie Rose Clarke: She was HYSTERICAL THE ENTIRE SHOW! And some people say they like her calm, act II G(a)linda better than her hyperactive ditz, act I G(a)linda. If I would have to choose, I wouldn't. She did both so well, she and Carmen seemed to feed off of eachother during the entire show. And she can get emotional. Wow. Her (and Carmen for that matter) cried SO HARD during For Good. And Katie was still wiping her eyes during the finale.

DeeDee Magno Hall: Favorite Nessa ever. She belted the heck (not sure if I can say something else due to the new BWW thing on profanity) out of Wicked Witch of the East. She also did a great job at making herself seem so innocent and sweet during Act I.

Cliffton Hall: Awesome..that's all I can say. WAIT! To anyone else who has seen Carmen and Cliffton, do they kiss constantly during As Long As You're Mine? Because it seemed any break they got they would just go at it. But whatever.

The entire cast in general was awesome!!! And it was a great performance.

Stage Door:

I was the only one there. Well, me and some lady and her daughter who FLIPPED OUT because Carmen didn't come out. She was like "MOOMMMYYY! I WANTED TO MEET ELPHABA! AND SHE DIDN'T COME OUT!! SHE SHOULD COME OUT!!" and she was so RUDE to other cast members, like an ensemble member came out and was like "Hi sweetie." and she basically went "Are you Elphaba" to which they would reply "no". So she'd go "Well, I want Elphaba and put her Playbill back in her bag. But she's beside the point.

Well, Stage Door all in all was okay. It rained HARD, but I had my coat, etc. The only thing that really sucked about the experience was basically no one came out. Two ensemble members (one stopped for the girl, but after her rampage left and didn't see me), another who was on his phone. DeeDee and Cliffton came out together, DeeDee was on the phone and Cliffton had a bunch of stuff with him so I didn't want to bother them. Katie Clarke came out to say hi to fans and then left. Let me say this, Katie was SO NICE! I asked her to sign my playbill, she asked me if I liked the show, etc. And she seemed to get a huge kick out of the fact I told her she "Kicked some (butt) up on stage as Glinda". But she was so nice.

After waiting for about 45 minutes some lady came outside and asked if I was waiting for Carmen, I told her yes, and she apologized, and told me Carmen was going to stay inside since it was a two show day. So I left. All in all everything was pretty awesome.

(Sorry if this review isn't awesome..I usually don't write these things, but I have nothing else to do right now so I figured-why not?)

Thanks for your review! I really enjoyed reading it! I wish more people would have came out for you at the stage door. I have never stage-doored the Fox.

lol Carmen does give a pretty nasty look to the citizens of Oz in Defying Gravity. It scared me cuz she looked right at me for a sec but she was realy looking at an chorus member.

I would love to see Carmen as Elphie. I saw her as Fantine and thought she was brilliant.

And FD,

Is this the tour? if so, what theatre and city was it in? I can't tell from your review.
