I was looking at buying tickets for Wicked when I am in Germany this summer. And I noticed that it is only playing 7 Performances a week Wed-Sun. Are they going to close it soon? How are the ticket sales? and Any idea how long it will play, (no international production of wicked has closed yet). The prices still seem to be high at 45-90 Euros, and tickets are only on sale until 31 July and in America they are on sale well into the fall any idea?
Thanks

@skikbumb: Wicked in Stuttgart is closing in January 2010. You can buy Tickets only up to July at the moment due to the ticket company regulations. If you need tickets for a later date, you'll have to wait for some weeks. I'm sure that tickets for are available soon. The ticket sales are still quite good but it's not that sold-out as it is in the USA.
If you are a student and/or under a age of 26, you have the chance to buy a so-called "Young Ticket" (price: ~ 36 euros), order via phone call only. It's valid on selected seats in the first few rows. Just have a look at ticketonline.de: Click on a date at your choice, then click on "Im Saalplan buchen". The seats marked with an "Y" are those Young Tickets. If you're not a student and/or under 26: there are often deals and offers where you can save up to 50% - and that's great because regular ticket prices for the German production are very expensive (up to 140 euros on a Saturday evening performance).
Do you need further help? Feel free to send me a message :)

Theatre in Germany is a little different. They often perform 7 shows a week (rather than 8 )...it's not a bad thing, it's just what they do.
Shows usually stay in one city for 2-3 years, as each theatre is more like a regional theatre, where people from those areas tend to go. So once that market dries up within a couple of years, the show may move to another city and run another couple of years. The only huge true exceptions are the Cameron Mackintosh shows in the 80s/90s, when musical theatre was a new commodity. The Phantom of the Opera ran in Hamburg for 11 years!
