So it's all in Japanese, but it's announced that Wicked will open in Tokyo this June.
Will this mean that the Universal Studios Japan version of the show will close?

Has anyone seen the Universal Studios version of the show in person? I have seen 4 different Wicked shows on video, and each one was amazing.
Yes, it is a very condensed version of the show, but the Elphaba's they had were all very good. The rest of the cast is made up of Japanese performers, and so it is interesting to hear "One Short Day" and "Popular" in Japanese.
I doubt this show will close once a legit full scale production of it opens in June. For the same reason that Disney's Beauty and the Beast at MGM Studios in Orlando continues to run: these are two totally different types of shows. One is a theme park show, and the other is a Broadway musical.

The Tokyo version is really amazing! By the way, did anyone know that Numao Miyuki returned to "Phantom" this spring. It has been about 4 years since she last did Christine, and I would really like to see her in Osaka. Many of the "Wicked" girls in Japan have been former Christines (Tomada Ayako,Numao Miyuki) and Belles (Hamada Megumi, Numao Miyuki), and Hamada Megumi did "Aida" in the Japanese premiere. And, I'm so glad that the CD will feature the ORIGINAL JAPANESE CAST, and not their sub-par replacements, although I think Higuchi Asami is better than Tomada Ayako, no one can beat Hamada Megumi and Numao Miyuki. Li Tao has not had a replacement yet, and I would love to see him do Fiyero in a Chinese version of the show.
Has anyone seen the Numao Miyuki documentary?
