Im coming to NY in September (7th to 9th) from the UK and ill be seeing lots of shows....with the popularity of Wicked, i thought it best to buy the tickets now, so i have...top price, wednesday 7th september, matinee, orchestra P118...i searched through all the possibe dates during my stay and that seat is the best i could find....
i was wondering...is that a good seat would you say?
also...ill be booking for phantom and hairspray, how far in advance is it advisable to book in?
Hairspray and Phantom you can get half price tickets day of at the TKTS booth. I love the Gershwin seating. I think its very stadium like and any seat is good. I am fairly short and i saw it towards the bach of the orch and could see everyhting fine.

As I said before, the farther back in WICKED I think the better - I would say your seat is perfect. Being too up closer ruins some of the lame "effects," and from far away can actually seem magical.

Knowing from experience...I can tell you that you miss some things if your in the first few rows but over on the end. There are some parts of Wicked's great set that you miss...but I would say your seat is great.
Just get whatever ticket you can get for Wicked and then try the lottery the day of. If you win, someone will buy your original ticket from you. Hairspray also has a lottery that's very easy to win, and if you don't win, you can always buy tix from tkts.
