Hello! I just bought tickets for Wicked at the Gershwin. I saw the show once a few years ago, and I was sitting on the far left of the second row of the orchestra. I still loved the show, but the view was not great.
A friend of mine is coming to visit, and I just bought seats in Row V, seats 2 &4. I was just wondering if anyone has had these seats, or something nearby and could tell me about how they are. These seats are under the mezzanine, and I'm kind of worried that it will obstruct our view (I've been in theatres where that has happened before). I would hate to have Elphaba's flying scene during Defying Gravity be out of sight
. I don't remember the Gershwin that well, so if anyone has any insight, I'd appreciate it! This is my friend's first big Broadway show and I want it to be spectacular for her :)
I had seats in row Y (very back of orchestra) and the only thing I couldn't see fully was the dragon at times. I had no problems seeing any of the characters who flew.

Don't you think that the designers would be smart enough to make sure that everyone in EVERY seat can see elphaba fly?
Sightline issues happen with obstructed views, but not only is that the climax of the entire number DEFYING GRAVITY, but its The final button of Act One, AND the overall climax of the show.
I imagine between Eugene Lee, Wayne Cilento, and Joe Mantello, someone knows what they are doing.
Your view of the act 1 finale will be fine. It's a full view seat. A bit far, but not a terrible view at all.
At this point, you already bought the tickets, so there is not much you can do even if the sight lines were horrible.
