How Dare you!!!
Eden is no where near as good as Idina and never will be... Her voice is not suited for belting it is just to shrill...She might make a good Carmen in Fame though...How Dare U!!!!!!!

Posted: 9/8/04 at 9:10amIf you listen to the wicked C.D., especially in "The Wizard and I", you'll notice that Idina does gasp for air a lot, but I like it. I think it adds a lot to Elphaba's Character. BTW, Idina does rock!!!

Can't wait to see this show again. I'm glad people are liking the new G(a)linda. Those are big shoes to fill. PS- those "ad libs" such as "Ooh pink really goes with green!" aren't all ad-libs. Kristen Cheno said them when I saw the show in June.
Re: Idina's gasping. She REALLY gasps for air. Probably because she hits such huge notes and she needs the air to reach her soft-palette area as quickly as possible before singing. It's very disconcerting, and certainly had me cringing a bit. You can hear for yourself on the Tony broadcast of Defying Gravity.

Posted: 9/21/04 at 3:25pmI completely agree with Al Dente. I think that higher singing for ego purposes is often used in shows. I'm glad that Joey McIntyre's part was lowered in "As Long As You're Mine" because although Leo Norbert Butz did well on the higher part, I think he sounded a lot like a Clay Aiken imitation (please don't be angry at the comparison - it was just the first thought that came to mind when I heard him). I also agree that the "higher is better" attitude needs to hit the road.
