Generally? They're awful. The Wicked lottery is the worst of the two, but the Spelling Bee lottery gets their spillover and suffers for it, too. If I were you I'd just buy SRO to a sold-out performance of Spelling Bee when the BO opens. The show is short, the view is good, and you'll be guaranteed a spot.

Yep, SRO is the only way to go for Spelling Bee. It's also a small theater with no balcony overhanging so the view and sound are just as good as in the seats.

I got there at 11:30 on a Friday and there was still SRO available.

The best times to give the Wicked lotto a try is a Tuesday evening or a Wednesday matinee. Those seem to be less crowded.

For Spelling bee, can you sit down in the SRO spots and still see? or is that against the rules?

When I went, people doing SRO were sitting down and could see fine. No one seemed to care or say anything.

Have fun!

When I went someone was asked not to sit. But I guess it depends on the day or spot you're at. Really, it's not hard to stand for this show. It's short and very distracting. :) Updated On: 7/4/05 at 06:10 PM

I've done both lotto and SRO for Spelling Bee.

The SRO spots aren't the greatest, but totally bearable. The show is at Circle in the Square. SRO is at the side of the square, so you miss some of the action. It's totally worth the $26.50.

Spelling Bee is really short -- just about 90 minutes with no intermission. I stood the entire time without blinking an eye. You can probably crouch, but it probably won't come to that.

Note: The Wicked lotto is insane. Spelling Bee is less so, but it definitely gets spillover from Wicked.
