Wicked movie thread.

Alright, don't bite my head off but this thread is about "Wicked". I'm just warning you if you don't like hearing about the show, get outta here now! To continue.... on another thread I saw that rumor has it that Anne Hathaway was to play Elphaba and Emmy Rossum was to play Glinda. Didn't they say that if they ever made a movie of "Wicked" that they'd have Kristin and Idina in it, that their roles would be secured. No clue, very confused.

NOBODY has been cast in the Un ANNOUNDED movie of this. That anne hathaway/Emmy Rossum rumor was totaly fake. (What producter would hire emmy rossum after the mess thatw as Phantom of the Opera)

also there can be no talk of casting, becuase the movie is not official.

That has to be totally fake because I heard somewhere that if a movie would be made they would us Kristen Chenoweth or no movie would be made. I don't know if I'm right but I just wondered if I'm right. Anyways, who would go to the movie if they used Emmy Rossum/Anne Hathaway. The movie would be the biggest peice of crap to come out, and I love Wicked so I would never want to se it disgraced in that way.

I agree. I have no problem with Anne Hathaway as an actress but her as Elphaba.....good lord.

Does anyone realize that when a musical is being talked about made into a movie it takes several years???

When and If they do decide to make Wicked into a movie, Kristin and Idina may be too old to be in it (Unless they get doubles to play them while they are in school).

By then, Emmy's career will have been washed away, and people will be like Emmy who???

And they will get two actresses that we haven't even heard of yet to play those parts.

When Evita was on Broadway, no one had EVER heard of Madonna.

Same thing with Rent. When Rent opened, Rosario Dawson was making her film debut in a horrid movie called "Kids"

When the revival of Chicago first opened on Broadway, not many people were even aware of Catherine Zeta-Jones.

I could go on and on...

Truth is, don't hold your breathe for a movie...

I hope it is a couple years before [if]a film happens.

Let the success of the stage version remain with us a while, then refresh our eyes with new concepts and visual themes for the movie later.

(Any of the OBC, Shoshana or JLT would be fine with me though)
