Wicked, Jersey, Or Sweeney

I am taking my best friend to his first broadway show and was wondering, what show should we see in Chicago?

As much as I love Sweeney Todd it maybe a little overpowering as a first show... especially the revival tour, although it is my favourite musical... and it is far superior to the other two choices. Why don't you try taking him to the movie first and if he likes it take him to the show.

Well, he likes musical comidies which are none of the three ofered. He also liked the Hairspray movie.

Well like I said, you could always take him to the Sweeney Movie and if he absolutely hates it (or even if he likes it) you could pick something different... Wicked has some comedic parts ("popular") if he likes comedies.

I would highly recomend Jersey Boys. It was my first Broadway show, but I saw it in Seattle. Lots of jokes throughout it too. I'm sure you and your friend will love it.

I would say that out of the three Wicked is the best starter. Everybody loves a spectacle.

For a guy? Jersey Boys. Even though I'm a straight guy and don't like the show at all. I seem to be in the extreme minority. Sweeney is obviously the best but may be risky.

Wicked would problably be the best since the Sweeney revival may be difficult to follow for someone unfamiliar with the show.

OR, I go to sweeney with the one I was gonna take to Producers and my friend who wants to see Sweeney after the bootleg (YES, I did see it in theatres first)
