(Wicked) Ticket Question

This probably applies to all tickets but this is for Wicked. If I buy tickets but then become unavailable to go to the show, how do I sell my ticket back to the cancellation line? Do I get back my full $110 or whatever I spent? Thanks

The day of the show, on my way in, I just gave my ticket to one of the guys at the box office, explained that my +1 would not be attending with me. He looked at my ticket, and it was a 'good enough' seat (seriously- his words. It was a center orch seat, but I though the cancellation line was crazy enough that they could resell any seat?) that he had no worries about being able to resell it to the cancellation line. So box office guy gave me cash for it, (I'd paid on a c card), and kept my ticket to resell.

(I bought my ticket from the box office, not sure if policies differ if you used Ticketmaster, etc..)
