People were more interested in seeing Jackie Mason and Golda Mier than a Confederate Widow.

The road to Broadway as well as the Great White Way itself is scattered with corpses this season (Widow, Boland, Bounce, Harmony) with some getting ready to respire (Taboo). Broadway's going through a strange phase, cutting its losses left, right and center without a second thought. It doesn't help to have full-length article about a show's demise like the BOUNCE autopsy in today's Times. It gives the impression Broadway is dying and can't support its own. Investing in any Broadway show today is almost like" The Producers" The likelihood that any show will repay its investors is minimal . Bobbi Boland could have been picked by Max & Leo. Other Max/Leo offerings in the past could be:

1. Dude
2. Via Galactica
3. Senator Joe

I'm just astonished that it closed after only one show. Were ticket sales really so bad that they couldn't afford to keep a one-woman show open more than one day? I mean, it's not like it had the overhead of Les Miz.

If you have a show that opens to bad reviews, and you are going into the week with no advance sales, plus, day after sales are terrible, it is sometimes cheaper to close opening night than to play the week and incur further losses.
