I was watching the credits for the OLIVER! movie and I noticed that there is no Widow Corney listed. But when I watched the movie there was a woman who I assumed was Widow Corney, she sang OLIVER! and was their in Food Glorious Food. Is there a Widow Corney in the OLIVER movie?

Yes, but she is not called Widow Corny in the original movie, I don't think!

The role was played by a very famous (at the time) English actress by the name of Peggy Mount.

Oh okay I see now.
They call Widow Corney Mrs. Bumble.

They credit her as "Mrs. Bumble" in the movie... which jumps to the conclusion that she and Mr. Bumble are already married at the beginning of the story.

In the stage version of the show, there is a campy number called "I Shall Scream," sung by Mr. Bumble and the widow... and at the end of the number it's implied that they will marry.

When they appear in the second act together to collect the reward for bringing Mr. Brownlow the missing locket, Mr. Bumble refers to her as his wife.

For the movie... the number was cut... so she is "Mrs. Bumble" for the entire film.

I like "I Shall Scream" (I am AD for a production of OLIVER! and we just did that song yesterday)

Cool! I was musical director for the show, back in my old community theatre.

Fond memories, to be sure.

EDIT: I like the song a lot too! But I agree that it would throw the movie off-focus for a little too long, before returning to the main story. They have to keep it moving forward.
