How/Why did 2 productions of the Wild party get on the stage at the same time. Which determined who got broadway and who got off? Are they about the same thing?

I don't think it's a bad question, as I've wondered that myself. Personally, I didn't love either version and certainly didn't think it was a good enough piece, as a whole, to *need* two mountings. That being said, the off-B'way one was far more tolerable.

All I will say is that the WRONG one was on Broadway !!!

Hmm. I have yet to get my hands on a copy of the Broadway Wild Party, but I will say that the score of the off-Broadway one was quite good, even if I didn't like some of the performers singing it.

Who didn't you like in the Off B'way cast? I think the cast and the recording is excellent. Just curious.

That was an amazing cast. I love Julia Murney. She needs to be in a Broadway show

Both were baed ont he same poem, which is in public domain, so no one has to get permission to adapt it. In other words, I could write my own version of The Wild Party is I wanted to!

The Manhattan Theatre Club is a non-profit regional theatre, and at the time, they only had an Off-Broadway performance space. They now have the Bilmore Theatre - a Broadway space.

The Public Theatre is also non-profit, but they sometimes present their shows in Broadway theatres. "Bring in Da Noise...", for instance, started Off-Broadway and then transferred to a Broadway theatre. "Wild Party" was in a Broadway theatre from the beginning.
