Actually, anything we discuss will be hearsay and conjecture, but Michael Bennett does bring up the most serious "technical" point of all: Laura has now had illnesses in every production she's starred in on Broadway outside of her first (Sound of Music) and Nine.
That's not good for those premiums. Whether it will stop producers from hiring her?
Well, like I said, it makes for good conjecture.
"Oh come on. Ms. Benanti is lovely but she's not that fiercely talented. She can't belt, dance or act straight theatre. She's a poor man's Julie Andrews".
Michael wins as that is the best and most honest description of Benanti anyone has ever dared to write before. Gospel, indeed.
Well, I think that Mandy Gonzalez is the poor man's Idina Menzel. And that's saying a lot.

I like Benanti.
She never bit my beak.
And operatic quality in vocals is highly desired for Original Broadway Cast recordings.
The Wedding Singer experience has definitely hurt her career.
I defended her fiercely when she was cast, but her reviews were not great, her absences cemented her reputation as undependable and, like all of us, she's not getting any younger.
I was joking around. You always get so defensive - don't take everything so seriously.
