I dont know if this has been discused since they announced that Caroline or Change is closing. I know there was talk about HBO filming it and then airing it. Does anyone know if there have been plans to air it on TV?
I agree with Corine, even if it is filmed (which I hope) don't dare miss the chance to see it LIVE onstage. It will be talked about for years to come.
Theater is so much better live.
Filming theater loses something.
Live actors. The excitement of the theater.
Support wonderful theater by saving CAROLINE.
It is Tony Kushner and Jeanine Tesori's beautiful musical.
I have a better idea, let HBO give CAROLINE the money to keep it on Broadway where it belongs.

I would love to see an intelligent musical like Caroline, but I live too far away. Filming has it's adavatages.

I've seen it live. I fell in love with the show and would love to be able to watch it whenever I want to.
I concur with BwayBoy. I'd love to be able to put in a DVD of the show and see Tonya do "Lot's Wife" at least one more time. I think having HBO on board is great, and I really hope they preserve this show. It's run will have been far too short for my tastes. But that Broadway nowadays. Big on spectacle, short on quality. Gotta love it.

Says bronxbound, who knows it all. (insert eyeroll here)
Considering how much support HBO has given the show so far, I wouldn't be surprised if they filmed and aired it, too.

Bronx... how do you know this? I mean you got insideer info or something?
Some posters are just so moronic that they completely justify the use of the blocking system on this board - what a lovely invention...lol...
Now - a question about the theatre where Caroline is Playing - do they sell standing room when the show is sold out? I saw it and loved it and would like to see it again before it closes - but money is tight at the moment...possums...
Bronxbound, as always, has no idea what he is talking about. From the information I have, HBO recorded the show in it's entirety.
If HBO had it on its site, and was involved, it doesn't make any sense at all that they wouldn't be filming it for air and sale.

I was on the HBO site yesterday (looking to see when new Curb eps would be starting) and this huge ad for Caroline came up. I got all excited, thinking it would be coming on tv so I could get a chance to see it. But it was just an ad for the show. But maybe one day!

Red Hot-If you can, get rush tickets, when I saw the show a few Saturdays ago, the mezz. was 1/4 full and even with the news of the show closing, I don't think it will be sold out.

You need to have a student ID for their rush, I think. Not that that's a problem for me. :) But I did get great seats when I did it- front row center of the mezzanine.
Well it's listed in their HBO Films section with their other movies like Angels in America, so maybe, hopefully, (GOD PLEASE!), it'll be on there.

Someone must let me know when there's an airdate for it! I'd love to see it.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but HBO has aired every show they have produced in the past so the odds are good this will be no different.
Yes, I heard form an insider that they decided not to film it and that was at least a week ago before the closing notice though. So do you wanna block me?

Bronxbound, it would be simpler if you said from the start that you got your information from inside. Otherwise it just sounds like pointless pessimism.
I believe the information I got is a tad more reliable than yours.
Tix are onsale at the TDF website, for all those who are members. I'm going this Tuesday. Yay! (I'm broke, too.)
