Is it pretentious? Yes. Is it any good? Not really. Is it entertaining? Perversely yes. Is there gratuitous sex & nudity? Not nearly enough. Is Miley Cyrus in it? Sort of. Will Ben Brantley like it? He'll make it a critic's pick. Does the lead girl have an amazing body? Absolutely. How much of her body do we get to see? Every inch. How many more times will I see it? Not more than 5 or 6.

Actually, to elaborate-it seemed like they threw a bunch of set pieces against the wall and just a couple of them worked for me. The Miley bit was a pleasant diversion but kind of a wtf moment. I guess it was an homage to Blue Velvet. By far the best scene was between the girl and a boy on a skiff. Here, the two performances elevated the material to a sublime level. But ithis relationship never went any where outside of this one scene. The actor simulating gliding on a skiff with just a pole was simply amazing. The girl was every bit his equal. It's worth the price of admission for this scene by itself. There's a good play there somewhere, but the rest doesn't live up to it. The cast is very game and their energy is contagious. The set is a dirt mound surrounded by chairs that appear to be from flea markets. You are very close to the action especially in the front row - you may actually interact with the performers but its not a participatory piece.

It was a very strange piece, I'll say that much.
But you're right, the actor playing on the imaginary skiff was amazingly realistic with it. I was staring at him when he first came out waiting for his legs to come into my view so I could see what he was doing or if he was on a moving platform or something.
