I have tickets for this coming Thursday; having seen Ms. Friedman in other shows in London, I paid full price (something I NEVER do) to see her in this. I just called the box office to see if she is not in, if the tickets were exchangable; I was told they are not. I repeated, even with the star of the show out? Am I wrong in thinking if she is out, I should be able to exchange for another date?

if she is billed above the title...usually you are allowed a refund....but I dont think any of the actors are billed above the title for this show....which is why they are telling you that the tix are unrefundable or transferable to another date...
I'm pretty certain that if you are at the box office and explain your situation in a calm manner, you will get the dates exchanged...keep calm and simply explain you would like tickets for a time you can see Ms Friedman -- I have never been denied that.
I have seen people think that if they "show the moron" behind the glass who is boss get nowhere -- really fast....
KMF you're absolutely right. How you approach the box office staff is crucial. I had made a mistake when purchasing tickets via ticketmaster on line. I explained to the agent that I made a mistake on the date (it was for a show that evening and I was in DC). The tickets were already at the box office, but the agent went above and beyond the call of duty to rectify the situation.

theyre always very accomodating to exchanges at the Marquis box office.
Jimmcf, they are expecting Maria to be back in the show by Thursday.
Do you think she will still be out Wednesday?

She may be back as early as tonight. I have a friend who works on the show, he was keeping me updated.
Thanks guys. I agree, I am always of the variety that "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar" and try to ALWAYS be nice...I have done customer service for years, and would never treat someone the ways I have been treated.
Hopefully, the point is moot, and Ms. Freidman is recovering well (which is the most important thing), and I will get to see her as Marian!
Even if Ms. Friedman (whom I saw in London and loved) isn't back (which is highly unlikely), you should keep your tickets: Lisa Brescia is mind-blowing as Marian.
I'll be at the show tonight, will post if she is back.

I was going to see the show tonight, checked at the B.O., and she isn't back yet.
I talked to Maria after the show, she said she rehearsed today and is coming back Thursday. She was very nice! (But looked very tired and worn out!)
Lisa did a great job.
