Hi there. I bought the Woman in White CD about 6 months ago...and I love it. However, I'm a bit confused regarding the relationships of some the characters in the show.
For example, Mr. Fairley's involvement in hidding information about Anne. How much did he know? Did he know Glyde knocked up Anne? Why did Anne's mother leave the employment of Anne's father?
Where did Fairley think Anne was the whole time while Laura was growing up?
It sounds as if Anne was older than Laura.
Laura and Marian had different fathers?
If someone can help me get this straight....it would be appreciated! Thanks.
I never read the book....so have nothing to go on! :)
Mr. Fairleigh only knew that Anne was the illegitimate daughter of his brother, Laura's father. He did not know the extent of Glyde's relationship with Anne until after he signed away Laura's fortune. I don't think he knew, or cared, where Anne was. Mr. Fairleigh was a somewhat selfish, self-absorbed man -- not to mention a hypocondriac (which I'm sure is spelled wrong!).
Laura and Anne were a year apart in age, but it's not indicated who was the elder.
Marian and Laura are half sisters -- Marian's mother married Mr. Fairleigh after Marian's father passed away.
Hope that helps.
