Well let's hope the 6 or 7 months between shows they use to properly do up the theatre, rather than the paper over the cracks job they did for the opening of Woman In White.
Interestingly, this is just 10 days after Judy Kuhn takes over for Maria Friedman on Broadway for a few weeks. I wonder if, given that her husband is going to be in Rent, Ruthie will also do a Broadway stint as Marian?

That's too bad...Al Silber, who is currently playing Laurie in Londond, graduated from my high school and that's all everyone's been talking about lately!
Who will Tim Hower be playing in RENT?

Yes Spamalot starts previews at the palace Theatre October 2nd.
By the way they did a TON of renovation to the auditorium before the Woman in White opened.

Posted: 1/20/06 at 11:56amI thought it was interesting that the article said that they had plans to bring WIW back to london in a reconceived form. I think that would be great! I have never seen it so i really can not comment but the music is just so good! i hope that they will bring it back!

Posted: 1/20/06 at 5:23pmRuthie is leavin on the 3rd is probably because (I guess) that she has to take care of her kids and bring them over to the US when Tim is workin in NYC? So there might be a chance that you guys may see Ruthie on Tim's opening night!

If memory serves, Les Miserables was only initially booked for a short run before becoming the runaway phenomenon it is today and so a lot of work that needed to be done was never done. I know that in the past they had to cancel performances of Les Mis as the roof was crumbling. And not all the building's needs were addressed in the dark time between Les Mis and Woman In White.

Posted: 1/21/06 at 11:16pmI have to agree that the Palace still needs a lot of work. I attended WIW opening night in London, up in the upper balcony. The upolstery on some of the seats had obviously not been repaired, many having holes in them. The following night, I was on the main floor, which did appear much better. But, they did not take care of the entire theater, even if they did do a ton of renovation. Guess the cheap seats in the nose bleed section was considered worthy of additional work.
