Saw it last night & we were both surprised how much we throughly enjoyed it. Everyone was in it last night. There were a smattering of empty seats.
Burstein made a comment thanking all the Jews for coming for Christmas. The show itself surprised us. Besides loving the score, we loved every aspect of the show. Benanti stole the show and deserves a Tony nod. Scott was good & Mitchell was really good as the slimy gigolo. Lupone was of course Lupone. The only gripe I had was some scenes the stagehands actually came on stage to move the scenery in full view. We sat in the Orchestra row L . Great seats for TDF. We could see backstage & saw some of the quick scene changes as they happened.
It is a shame it is not being extended. Hopefully the cast album will come out. Finally, the restoration of the theater is magnificent. To see the theater clened & repainted & to see the stain glass all redone reminded me of how glorious the older are.
