Posted: 10/11/03 at 4:54pmMy sister called me and asked me if I would like to attend Kent State University's (her college) production of "Working." She is in a "Theatre Appreciation" class or something. She said her teacher said it was like RENT. Anyone seen it? Is it a musical? Worth seeing. I said why not?

Posted: 10/11/03 at 4:58pmThe show's nothing like 'Rent' in the slightest. It's also not an especially good show. The Kent production is fine (I have a friend or two in it myself) but the material's really sub-par, although they do an admirable job with it. It's typical 'middle class angst' done with some utterly forgettable tunes along the way.

Just got back from a wonderful evening at the theatre (doing my sister's school assignment). The musical was wonderful. Some of the performers really stood out. Tonight also made me even more excited for my future! I love freedom. I love the campus. I just really cannot wait to grow up!

Whoa... it's nothing like Rent!
I saw a production of it at the Long Wharf back in 1999 (ah, the good ole days).
I enjoyed it... I wouldn't say its up there on my list of favorite musicals, but it was quite enjoyable. (But, HI, what musical which highlights Emily and Alix Korey in the same production ISN'T enjoyable??? LOL)

Posted: 10/12/03 at 3:07amI hate "Working!" HAHAHA. I did the show as Delores, the slutty waitress! It was kind of annoying, because our production, everyone played ONE part, so we each got like, 5 minutes of stage time, and even though my role was considered a "lead" I only had one song, a monologue, and two seconds of dialogue with a trucker. HAHA. It was a good time. Oh, and I did the Ensemble stuff. "See that building...blah blah blah blah." It's an okay show but to me it seems like more of a revue than an actual musical. I'm not a huge fan.
