Regarding money for a dancer (who generally doesn't sing, but lip-syncs to pre-recorded tracks) the payscale starts around 400 and goes to around 700. For a singer I have heard of as little as 550 to as much as 2000. I worked as a singer for Celebrity in 2003 and 2005 and I made 800 for my first contract. I negotiated my second contract and got 1100 a week. On celebrity I had no cruise-staff duties and I had my own cabin. I had full guest privelges. If you like singing and want to make some easy money and see the world, it's a great job. The shows are very light in terms of content-it is really just one huge concert with flashy dance. If you really love Musical Theater, you might not enjoy it as much. i know i was dying to just say one line of dialogue for the whole contract. I have much more fun exploring a character in a show and getting to the reason WHY they sing, than just standing in front of a bunch of overfed tourists singing Music of the night wearing a phantom mask and a pink sequinned cape (I swear to GOD!)
Other than that, did you enjoy the play Mrs Lincoln?
There is one production company out of Florida that you should NEVER work for.
They lie right to your face and then once you are on the ship, you are screwed.
