I was about to chime in on the "Edna Menzel was rude to a 10 yr old after waiting 2 hours for an autograph" thread, and poof, it's gone. don't really see why but what i wanted to say is/was this, It's was the first thread that made me smile in a long time, not only because Namo was hilarious on it but because just as I've predicted many times right here on this board, the Menzel backlash...has begun. I'm feeling rather smug at the moment, forgive me. I don't believe the story itself for a minute but I'm not surprised. Backlash is inevitable. This is what i was warning you tweens' about. Pretty soon this same story will be written about Eden E!

The fact that the thread about whether or not Menzel was rude to a 10 yr old is on it's EIGHTH page should tell you eveything you need to know about my disdain for *most* of the posters here. Again, I don't believe the story for a second but I will say that no theater actor "owes" an autograph. I think theater fans develop a very strange form of entitlement issue. It doesn't work that way in any other medium. And boards like this one, do not help.

Idina turned down my offer to sleep in the middle of her and Taye. Something about it being 'hard enough to make this marriage work when one of us is black and the other green.'
It's so obviously all about HER, and not the fans.

See, that's what I'm talking about, a sense of humour! Thank you. Who gives a flying fig what anyone does at the stage door of any theater? They're only "obligation" is to show up and give the best performance they can. They are not there to befriend us. Also, let's suppose in the land of nonsense, the story has any truth to it whatsoever, I would hardly think poorly about Menzel, but I would wonder about people who would stand outside a stage door for Two and a half hours for anyone, let alone Menzel! What does that tell you? Worry about them, not the woman doing her job and trying to catch a yoga class in between a matinee' and an evening performance.

If we should be mad at anyone, it's the doorman for letting the door slam in the 1st place. He should be doing his job! Letting the door close quietly. There is enough noise in this city as it is.

eddie, you totally do not have to get cast in a show, we can go tonight to your choice of stage doors, head in with an envelope for one of the stars just around curtain time, chat up the doorman until the show lets out and then thank him for his time and "emerge" to the adoring throngs, sign a few autographs, and when you get all belligerant, i'll swoop in and get you out of there shouting about how it's food poisoning.
