Just curious, is it inappropriate to call an actor by their first name? For example, if writing to Sutton Foster, should I write Dear Ms. Foster or Dear Sutton? All help and opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks:)
I always put the full name in all my letters. In your case, I would put "Dear Sutton Foster,"
oops, I didn't even think about this. I just sent an email to Ellen Greene, and my first line was "Hi Ellen". I hope this wasn't too informal. If someone was sending me a letter, I wouldn't mind the first line being "Hi Jera". Maybe that's just me.

*shrug* Within reason, I'd do whatever you're comfortable with. I mean, don't make it sound like you're chatting with your best friend, but I've used first names in e-mails and things.

They ARE regular people. If you were writing an informal letter to Joe Schmoe, would u write Dear Mr Schmoe.....
It depends on the person. I don't think Sutton Foster would mind at all if you called her Sutton. But with Jessica Lange and Kathleen Turner, to name two currently on Broadway... That would most certainly be a no-no. I sent an email to Stephanie J. Block and just wrote Hi Stephanie. Mainly, if it's a diva of a certain age, use care.
Hehe... I can just imagine Ellen Greene walking the streets of NYC thinking, "I can't believe that that fan called me Ellen and not Ms. Green... How rude!"

Whenever I write a letter, I always address them as "Dear Mr. -------" or "Dear Ms. --------". It's just a way of showing respect to them. At least that's the way I see it.
