Xanadu Recommendations?

I'm planning my second trip to NYC this spring, and am considering see Xanadu. The main draw is Kerry Butler- I've been a huge fan since the Hairspray OBCR came out.

However, I've yet to hear the cast recording (isn't it out this month?), and I don't know much about the show itself. My favourite shows are Hairspray, Wicked, Mamma Mia, Avenue Q, and Legally Blonde (obviously, I lean toward more pop-sounding shows). Is Xanadu a good fit amongst these?

Thanks for any help. I've been lurking around this board for a while and it seems like a great place to be :)

Based on your favorite shows, I would say yes. I'm not a big fan of Hairspray, Mamma Mia, or Legally Blonde but I thoroughly enjoyed Xanadu. It's really just a fun show, even if it's not the most brilliant creation in theatre. I would highly recommend it.

I've seen it 7 times, with no end in sight. And I'm an amateur compared to the diehards, who rack up 20 or more performances. It's such a fun show -- silly, funny, great performances and moves like lightening. See it by all means!!!!!!

truly sensational show, I literally had a smile on my face from beginning to end. It's a laugh a minute (or even less) kind of a show.

Thanks everyone! From the clips on the official site and clips I've seen of TV appearances/Broadway in Bryant Park, it looks like such a good time! I'm definitely going to look in to getting tickets as soon as we pick our dates.

I'm going with my dad, so I'm not sure how long he'll be willing to wait, but I'm going to try and make it my first stage door experience (especially if Kerry is still there/on that night). It should be a great time!

Thanks again, guys. I'm so excited now!

They usually come out fairly soon after the show -- Cheyenne is particularly prompt and is most gracious with his fans, as are they all.
