Sylar.. a better question might be.. why do you care so much (and take pleasure in WANTING it to fail)
Let the show run its course. Time will tell what happens..

theatrespaz-
Unlikely that it will be cancled. There have been openings on evenings and matinees eairler that day. If anything you will get the added benefit of seeing actors try and skate with hangovers.

Mr Craig
I don't want it to fail. I'm a business man, I know good investments and this show is not one of them. The marketing challenges alone will hinder its success. The show will probably do better on tour than it will on Broadway.

Craig, you were wrong
I was very upset I really really wanted to see Curtis and when I bought my tickets for this evenings performance earlier in the day Curtis' name was up on the board but it must have still been there from the night before because Andre went on, in both shows today I believe. From talking to Curtis it seems there was no real planned schedule, as he only learned he was going on yesterday earlier that day.
Andre does a great job so I enjoyed the show anyway but the whole reason I went back this week was to see Curtis!

Posted: 6/21/07 at 1:00amBTW...there are hordes of people who like XANADU the movie because of or in spite of it's cheesiness. HAIRSPRAY the original movie was far from a success when it was released and grossed under 7 million worldwide (according to boxofficemojo.com) while XANADU grossed 22.7 million (according to boxofficemojo.com) So it did enjoy some popularity (and those numbers are from 1980 so thats real strong in todays terms) You seem to be in the I HATE XANADU club with a few others here and I also am miffed at why there is such venim.

"Your comparison is completely moot because you cant compare a Tony Award winning musical to a show based on one of the biggest cinematic flops ever."
You might not be able to compare them for a variety of reasons, but not for that one. It makes no sense. Your basis for comparison is skewed by a qualifier (Tony award) for which Xanadu has not yet even been given the opportunity to achieve. After the 2008 Tony Awards, you can make that statement, but honestly, people were making the same negative comments about a foul-mouth rock musical remake of an opera filled with gays, lesbians, a drag queen, and HIV+ characters. You can basically put a spin on any musical to make it sound bad, so that point is pretty moot as well.

I think C. Jackson turned down the part in the first place? And I hope the show gets recorded.
Must suck for the other guy, since he went from making a good paycheck to...well, nothing.
