I'm a Fulbright student from Spain living in NY. I'm studying Theatre Management and I have seen all the shows in the city. I went with my mother to see my favourite show, Xanadu, on Friday and she LOVED it! Even don't understanding pretty much of the story because of the language she enjoyed a lot! She has told me that it's very funny and that even don't undersanting much English you can enjoy it because their faces and the coreography are so funny, the songs are great, the cast is totally amazing... And the funniest thing is that my mother LOVED CHEYENNE ha ha! I didn't told her nothing about him but when he appeared on stage she told me... "Qué chico tan guapo! (What a handsome boy!)". She totally felt in love with him!
So, my mother, a woman from Spain in her late fifties that understand only a few English loved the show... There is no more proof needed to know that this show can be a succes all over the world!!!! The cast was amazing one time more, the new guy playing Thalia is very good and Jackie Hoffman was hilarious! There was people from the Army onstage and she said "Thank you for serving our country!" and kissed for a long time one of the boys! It was soooo funny! And today it was a standing ovation again! There is no other show that deserves the Tony this year...
Best,
Diego.
