I just came back from seeing "Young Frankenstein" twice in Seattle and both times the song I found myself hummming afterwards was "Everbody's Got the Right" from "Assassins". The song "Surprise" that Elizabeth (Megan) sings when she arrives at the castle sounds so much like the Sondheim song. Am I the only one? Please let me know your thoughts if you have seen the show. The ironic twist to is that Victor Garber was at Saturday evening's performance and although I did say hello it didn't dawn on me to have asked him until after the fact.

There is a similarity, especially with the rhythm, but the melodies are different.

Behind the fake tinsel of Broadway is real tinsel.

Mel's stuff is definitely original, but he certainly does a lot of 'borrowing'. I saw YF and agree that 'Surprise' has the same feel to many tunes like 'Everybody Has the Right'.

Just like 'He Vas My Boyfriend' from YF(sung by Andrea Martin) has a very Kander and Ebb feel to it. It's similar to 'Mein Herr' from Cabaret and 'When You're Good to Mamma' from Chicago.

Yeah, I got a very "Cell Block Tango" feel from it.
