I know, I know, I know... everyone hates these posts but I honestly need help. I have an audition for You're A Good Man Charlie Brown (I'm auditioning for Lucy) coming up and I have no idea what to sing. I was thinking a high belt song would work but I'm not sure which. I was thinking of Life of the Party but my problems with it are its from such a mature show it might not work for the audition and I don't have the music for it. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be eternally grateful! Especially if you've played Lucy.
Thanks a ton.
Mabey look at something from Snoopy? Good luck on your audition:)

You could try a song sung by a younger character from a show too. Like say young cosette in les mis...etc. just a suggestion. Good Luck

maybe a song from seussical?
A belt-it-out song would be good, because Lucy belts and screams all her songs (most of it isn't supposed to sound pleasant). You should probably go for a song that shows a little campyness, that you can really play up because everything Lucy does, after all, is over the top.
Maybe something from Seussical? Just a suggestion.
I was in YAGMCB last year, and even though I wasn't Lucy, I still know the show, so I thought I'd help.
Wow, theatreboi, we read each other's minds.

Well, it's just Lucy has such a unique sound that Cossette really doesn't have anything near. Thanks for those suggestions though, I'll look into them. Anyone else?

What do you think of Notice Me Horton from Seussical

i think a better song from seussical would be for you or amayzing mayzie.
but when i did the show, our lucy auditioned with shy from once upon a mattress. that was a great audition song i thought.
Most of Lucy's singing isn't supposed to sound good, as you probably know. I'd third the recommendation for something from Seussical. Either "All For You" or "Amazing Mayzie." "Notice Me Horton is a good song, but it isn't showy enough. "ALl For You" and "Amazing Mayzie" have some good belty portions, and allow you to really play it up during the audition and actually get into the song.
Good luck!
Didn't I already tell you to try "Amayzing Mayzie" or "All for You" from Seussical? You should listen to me, silly girl
Do a song that is a little belty, and does not go into your headvoice.
Good luck!!
As stated by someone before, "Shy" would be really great - you can make it sweet and obnoxious at the same time. Look for songs that go with the character, not just the range. Most likely, the more energetic and character-like you get, the better. Too bad spelling bee sheet music isn't out yet! The two shows are very similar sounding.

I've never seen the show, but how does it work with adults playing children and Snoopy??
It's basically silliness. The actors talk like children (e.g. Kristin Chenoweth was Sally in the revival), and the actor playing Snoopy acts like a dog around the kids and sings/dances/etc. when he's alone. The set is oversized so that the actors appear to be tiny in comparison to everything else (gigantic chairs, for example). Updated On: 1/3/06 at 08:41 PM

I know it sounds silly, but does the actor playing Snoopy dress up as a dog and roll around on the floor and bark??
He dresses up as a dog and barks a couple of times, but I don't really recall crawling on the floor. I think that he walks upright in the productions that I've seen, but I'm sure that it totally varies depending on how the director decides to stage it.
Well Snoopy is a very sarcastic character in You're A good Man, Charlie Brown and when I was part of a production, if we ever had Snoopy rolling around and what not it was because he was making fun of the way Sally Brown wanted and thought all dogs should be/are like.

How do numbers like "Suppertime" work if Charlie doesn't have a conversation with Snoopy?
I loved the soundtrack, it's so cute. Please tell us how your audition goes!
