It was between Seattle and Chicago, I'm hoping for Chicago!
Well, chances are when this opens on broadway, I'll be in some far-off country with the peace corps for 2 years. I really want to see this...so I'm hoping the tryout town is close to New York....hell, I'd go to New Jersey to see this. Sadly, that will never happen.
Oooh! Seattle would be great! I'll visit my family in Seattle before I leave...if Young Frankenstein went there it would be excellent!

If Brooks were superstitious , he would do it in Chicago hoping to catch lightning in a bottle twice.
I'm hoping for Chicago as well. Brooks has assembled a lot of The Producers team, so hopefully he'll go back to Chicago . However, he may not get the same theatre (The Cadillac Palace) because of The Color Purple. Frankly, I'd rather get the pre-Broadway tryout of YF than a sit-down of The Color Purple.

Since you live in Chicago, check out (if you have not done so) the New Regal Theater. It used to be called the Avalon. The exterior terra cotta is out of an Arabian fantasy & the inside has been laviously restored. I was in it prior to its restoration
It is, I believe , on the South Side. I will PM you an interesting story I was told by a late friend of mine who grew up in this theater. It involves the theater & the movie Thief of Bagdad
Chicago! For some reason, I see Brooks as, as Mr. Roxy said, a superstitious person. I bet he'll do it in Chicago, just to follow suit with The Producers.
...AT LEAST I HOPE SO!
Seattle please. Though, word is the 5th Avenue has burned more than a few bridges with pre-Broadway shows. Its a horrible venue.
Always Chicago!!!
I'm furious that the Little Mermaid is in Denver and not Chicago....bull.
San Fran would be wonderful!! This way I could go see it without spending my college fund.
The 5 th Avenue is a georgeous theater inside no matter what is on stage

What months will it be out of town? I know there are no set dates, but any estimate? I'll be near Chicago in the summer and I'd love to see it, if it goes there.

I thought in the articles about it that they said it was trying out in Seattle.

Bump. Sorry, I was just wondering if anyone had an estimate for when this show would be having its out-of-town tryout. Is it reasonable to expect it would be previewing during the summer?
Yes, if the show is to be on Broadway in the fall, the only time it would preview would be in the summer
Chicago all they way!
I am going to Chicago for a week in July for vacation and am crossing my fingers that YF tries out there. It would be the icing on the cake to get to see that show during my first trip to the windy city.
When I saw the title of thread I was hoping that an announcement had been made. Oh well...I guess I will just have to keep on hoping!
They want to open on Halloween, so count back, about a month of previews and a short break between engagements.
(unless they want to start previews on Halloween, I'm not much help)
Seattle please! Or San Fran would be cool too. Anything West Coast.
You got Legally Blonde, give us Young Frankenstein!
(*If it happens, i'd say you got the short end of the stick, IMHO*)

I second that! I would love for it to be in Chicago! I am so excited for that show!
*sigh* Never Baltimore . . . and we're SUCH a good audience . . .
