Just checking on here. I heard that Kristin Chenoweth has pulled out of YF. Can anyone confirm this? If it's true, why isn't she doing it?

I can imagine a lot of reasons, if it's true.

For one thing the role is definitely a supporting one. She doesn't need to be playing any Broadway characters with 2 or 3 scenes total, at this point in her career.

Just a guess...

Isn't there supposed to be a tv pilot in the works for Nathan Lane and Kristin Chenoweth? That might have something to do with it...

It would actually surprise me a great deal - Cheno had been looking forward to this since Mel first mentioned her name years ago.

Kristin would have to be dragged away from this show. There is now way she would decide to leave it. The only possible way that she won't be in it is if Mel recasts her with someone else. Not because she herself pulls out.

I had a feeling she would pull out cause it wouldn't be KRISTIN in YOUNG FRANK.
And her reception in THE APPLE TREE has been just so so (except for Brantley who always praises her).

I actually heard from someone who was in the reading that Ms. Chenoweth wasn't terrific in the role. She seems like the right person for the part to me but apparently it wasn't a great fit. Again, this is all just a rumor at this point. Don't know for sure she is backing out of the project. Sort of looking for confirmation from someone on here who may know her.
