Just heard from Yuka that she'll be going into "RENT" as Alexi Darling, Roger's Mom, etc.

I didn't have time to ask her when she'd start, but I venture it'll be sometime shortly after she leaves "A Chorus Line" at the end of the month.

She'll be there through the end of the fall, when she'll head back to Japan to work on another album.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.

Big role in Chorus Line to 20 minor roles in Rent. Huh.

I guess that means Myuami Ando (spelling?) is leaving. She's been there for a loooong time.

Mayumi's already left the show, she's back to fill in until Yuka starts. She left the show a while ago, they brought in some new chick named TV and then she left because of an injury, I believe. Since she left they've been bringing in old Alexi's to fill the gap until they get someone "permanent".

Um, a job is a job. No matter how high-profile the show may be. Glad to hear that Yuka has found something to move onto after a very successful project, something that doesn't happen for many people.

The actress playing Alexi plays ROGER's mom. Mark's mom is played by another actress.

katurian, that would be interesting to see how it 'works' for someone to play both Alexi and Mark's mom. Fortunately, that is not how it works. As jcm said, it's Roger's mom that Alexi covers.

T.V. Carpio was the Alexi that came in when Mayumi left the role in January after doing it for 4 1/2 years. She returned briefly a couple of times in May, and then returned in June (after Kim Varhola covered the role for a bit) when it was determined that T.V. was not returning, and Yuka was cast to begin in August.
