Does anyone know when the cd will be released?? I only ask because I know some shows have released the cd prior to the Broadway opening, and was wondering if LITTLE WOMEN was planning on doing that, or if they were going to wait till after the opening in NY? I can't wait to hear it...SOME THINGS ARE MEANT TO BE sounds great from that little clip on the show's site!
Thanks!
They more than likely won't release it for a couple of months after it opens on broadway next year. And that is a great song. My finance and I BAWLED. I mean, she was hyperventalating, she was crying so hard. BEAUTIFUL song.
Yeah, I love that song! I cry just singing it around the house. Beth:"All my life, I've lived for loving you. Please be happy.." *Bawl*
"My finance and I BALLED..."
You BALLED or BAWLED? LOL.
I already love Little Women from the clips. I can't wait until December 29!
Whoopsy.

Yes, Somethings Are Meant to Be was one of the AMAZING numbers of the show. I definatly was crying, and so was Sutton. Her nose started running, and all throughout the scene afterwards, she kept having to wipe it on her sleeve. She did it in character though, and I definatly added to the whole effect :)
The music as a whole is amazing, though. Come to think of it, there wasn't a single song I didn't like.

I didn't like the song between Jo and her aunt when she was trying to get Jo to act like a lady. But, I believe that was the only song I didn't like.
I'm glad to hear good things about it. Just wondering, anyone have any negative reviews? Just curious to read...
The only negative things I thought, were that the sisters (especially Beth) and the men folk were really under developed. Also, when I saw it Sutton was very amaturish in her acting during the first act, but was AMAZING in the second (I heard she has gotten better in the first act)

Wow...I didn't think ANY of the characters were underdeveloped! Of course, I saw it last Friday, two days before they closed previews, so I'm sure I probably saw a completly different show. They had 96 different songs they were changing out throughout the previews, and 20 pages in all were added and taken away during just the last week.
Anyways, I thought Sutton especially was amazing, and her Act One Jo was out of this world. I think she's done a lot of developing over time. Amazing.
I liked the song with Aunt March and Jo! I thought it was really really cute :)
I also liked the the Could You? song. (The one b/w Jo and Aunt March). What really made the song good were Sutton's movements. They were hilarious. The song I didn't really like was the one b/w Laurie and Amy. (It was Amazing, or something like that.) I really enjoyed all the other songs though. Spider, I saw the show the same day you saw it and I didn't think she was overacting at all. I thought she was perfect. She was exaggerating a lot of things, but I think it really just a part of the character, who is prone to exaggeration and dramatic flair. Btw, there has been quite a bit of character development since then. I saw it again the night before it closed and there were quite a bit of script changes. No song changes, though. I hope the show gets some TONY noms (and wins!)

I totally agree with everything you said, Elphie! Sutton's movements as Jo were out of this world. There's not many actors that can act with their entire body like that. I've been practicing my "Jo" walk, haha! I've also started saying "Christopher Columbus!" I think this show will be really big. It deserves it. I'm thinking Sutton's gonna get her second win...at least nomination, and I'm pretty sure the show is going to take some pretty big wins as well :)

Sutton doesn't strike me as a dancer, but I guess she must be. After all, she was Millie! But anyway, she was impeccable. Everything about her movements were great: the way she hunched her back, her "Rodrigo"(sp?) walk/run, etc. etc. I absolutely loved how she pantomimed everything during the "Operatic Tragedy" scenes! She was also flawless during the kite scene with Beth. The way they moved "the kite" was amazing, and Sutton's body language and facial expressions were so expressive and perfect. Now I wish I had seen her in Millie! I hope TONY number two is on its way!! She really deserves it. I think the sets also have a good chance of at least a nomination. They were gorgeous. bwaymyway, what was your favorite song?
I will buy any album that Sutton Foster sings on.

It will be worth is, I promise. This is one of the first shows I've ever seen without being familiar with the music first ((though I did know some of it...)) and I was blown away. They'll probably win a Tony for the music. It was breathtaking.
Sutton was amazing in Millie- she's a very good tap dancer, though when I saw her, she was a little bit spaztic. One of my currect dance teachers taught her and Hunter tap when they were younger, and she said they were both amazing for their age.
And yes, the way she pantomined in the Weekly Volcano Press and Operatic Tragedy- amazing. I ended up watching her more than I did the ones performing the book!
