Hi,
There is an audition coming up for singers for Guys and Dolls..
I don't really know the show, other than the music.
Does there seem to be an age range of the cast? male chorus members? I have a picture, and everyone looks over 40 years old... im in my 20s...
was curious if it's worth it to audition
thanks

Go for it. It's a fun show. I know Nathan Detroit has been engaged for 14 years so he has to at least be 32 years old but other gamblers could be younger (Plus I'm sure you could pull him off if you were cast as him. (I did it in high school.) Don't worry about it just go audition. Oh lordy, I miss that show!

Actually the age ranges differ. It does not hurt to audition. I played Benny Southstreet in Guys and Dolls two years ago and the guy playing Nathan was alot younger than i was and I'm 27. My profile pic is of my playing Benny. Break A Leg!

Do you mind a suggestion from an old guy?LOL!...my acting teacher is a true believer in the fact that when you go to an audition, you are auditioning for your reputation and not the role. People rarely get the roles they audition for, but more importantly, get seen, get their names in the files of the Casting people and get called back later for other projects based upon their talents and looks. When you go to an audition, think of it as a chance to perform - whether its just 16 bars of a song or a full song and/or monologue - give it everything you've got and forget about the consequences - just enjoy the moment and leave the room knowing you've done your best. Most importantly - be yourself, not a character. Show them who YOU are and let them fall in love with you, whether or not you're right for the role - this way they will be more likely to call upon you for future projects. Sing with Joy, bring positive vibes into the room with you and really have fun. Nerves are going to be there regardless - but let them work for you instead of against you - just laugh and don't let the audition have "weight" - don't let it matter too much to you - just perform as though you had the role and were in front of an audience and giving them the best of yourself. You'll see that this makes all the difference in the world in your audition process.
Hope you got something positive out of what I've said here - and best of luck to you and all who persue this wonderful medium.

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

I've always had fun at Guys and Dolls! The main dolls incl. (Adalaide & Sarah) seem to in the 25-30 age range. Adalaide plays a bit young to be engaged for 14 yrs. but that's show biz!

The male roles, the crap shooters, outnumber the female a bit and have a wider age range(23-45) from Sky & Nathan to gangster Big Julie. A very entertaining show especially if the choreography is snappy.
