FAME coming to off-bway?

I heard that "FAME" will be the next Little Shubert Show after "Hank Williams" leaves for the US tour. How well is a 26 person cast 9 piece orch. going to do in that theatre?

I dont think so.

I dont think Fame ever came to Broadway, but I definately think it should. The show is really great- very high energy, and I actually like the story.

Fame has never opened on Broadway. In began a North American tour in 1999 starring Gavin Creel (drool) and Jennifer Gambatese. i belive the tour is supposed to back out on he road.

There are discussions to cut down the size of the cast for the Little Shubert engagement.

I only heard about it because I also work at the Little Shubert where "Hank Williams" is and they told us that FAME would be the next show and stop for the tour for a little bit..I dont believe it's an open-ended run. Plus it's a very small stage for that show so like IssaMe said they might cut down.

Well, glad they are at least talking about Fame and admitting it at the theater.

Went back and checked on the other board - and it was on April 15th that I posted there that Fame was heading to NYC to "a most unexpected venue" which couldn't be revealed because of the current tenant.

Now thank goodness, the cat is out of the bag - at the Little Shubert back then, nobody was to know that the newly opened Hank Williams show was being booted out if negotiations with Actors' Equity and the Shuberts panned out for the Fame producers. Theatrical courtesy.

Anyway - certain union concessions are necessary to make this big show work at this little venue.

also though..

they are trying to keep "Hank Williams" in for longer because the show is doing very well but, I think the longest it will be there is till october since it already has some planned venues for the tour.It only had the theater for 6 months though anyway. And FAME is expected in there either October or November.

re: also though..

Originally, there were hopes to bring Fame in during the summer causing a pre-mature closing of Hank Williams (hence the coyness and secrecy). The out-of-school, summer vacation tourist crowd in NYC was to be the target audience for Fame.

Well, wouldnt that be the smartest idea? Fame would get more business that way? What is Hank Williams about anyway?

Hank Williams

Hank Williams is basically the true life story of singer HANK WILLIAMS...now i HATED country music and yes im going to admit I do work at the show... I think the show is very good. Some people hate it, some peole love it. I personally feel it would do better on the road...because that's where the money is. The cast is super talented..but I'd also be very interested in seeing FAME because it is a cool show.
