I've auditioned for "The Sound of Music" and got in. I was Brigitta. Well, they'll ask you to sing something. If you sing something from the show, it's just a better way of brown nosing. Then they'll ask you to do some dance that the choreographer made up. He or she will do it about two times just to see how good your memory is. Then they'll dismiss you and talk it over. A day later, they'll call u back to read for a part. It's fun even if you don't get in. Are u auditioning for a part?

Ive auditioned for a lot of things along with many other board members..if you are called in, it is MUCH easier simply because they are expecting you, you have no chance of being typed out or having to wait for 6 hours. Open calls are the worst. They are like American Idols auditions 24/7... lines lines lines... getting to sing about A line of a song. Dance calls though are pretty fun. Especially for mamma mia. I suggest going just for practice AND for fun.. you can meet a lot of interesting people and you also find your few share of "dropdead gorgeous beauty contest" girls lol... meaning that they arent very nice.. no out of curiosity, I would love to audition for a bwy show, but i need a proper voice method to sustain 8 shows a week, and i'm too young to get cast at age 15!! i don't even live anywhere near NY, but one day hopefully!! I plan on moving in 2 years or so....or maybe 3...yea we'll see..i'm not too good with dancing, even if it's not much of a dancy musical, like "wicked" would you have to dance if it was a principle part like Fiyero??? or boq?? do you audition for a certain part, or audition and they cast you?? are there chorus and then prinicple auditions???

Generally If you are being looked at for a principle role it is private. Just you and the creative team.
I remember a story I heard about the first production of Joseph....by Webber and the that got the Narrarator auditioned in Webbers Apartment with Webber playing the peice for her.
