First off--Chill people!!! What is with the massive amount of anger and distain on this board lately? Or in this case is it, perhaps, jealousy that operagirl is actually getting a chance to audition for Les Mis?
Second of all--To operagirl--When it comes down to it, you need to sing what you feel shows you off the best. If that is something that a big name has done, or something from the show, then so be it. I got cast in a professional production of The Secret Garden after singing How Could I Ever Know. This song was already in my rep, and rather than going out and learning a brand new song in order to NOT use one that I knew backwards and farwards, just to NOT sing something from the show, seemed stupid. I knew that the song was one of my best songs, and I knew that it was the character type that I would be right for.
So, Good Luck!!!!

Thank you all for the advice. The call ended up being only 8 bars of whatever...everyone was going crazy trying to find the best 8 bars. I ended up singing Losing My Mind and they loved it...no one else sang that, and it showed off what I needed to show. After 200 women, they didn't really care what you sang, as long as it was good and not from the show. The whole call was kind of like an assembly line, and I felt good that they took some time to talk to me and ask me about my experience ect... Who knows if it will lead anywhere.
