You would have thought there would have been some word of this before now if it's supposed to open this fall!

All I was able to find about it is a mention in a schedule for some evening with Andrew Miller, the composer of the show.

and it uses the exact same words... that's weird...

However, Barry Manilow's musical "Harmony" has been scheduled for a fall bow for years, but that hasn't worked out too well.
I've not heard of this before. Interesting...
come-on Middler fans! Some-one must know what the deal is? Is it totally false or some-what true or fact? I'm dieing to know!

Guess that's what happens when performers don't have their own website!
Here's a little something else I found on the biggest Bette fansite, the incomparable BootLeg Betty...
"Perhaps his most promising work, if musical success is determined by proximity to New York City’s Broadway, is “The Prodigal,” a jazzy, contemporary and not overtly religious piece retelling the parable of the prodigal son in modern times. “The Prodigal” sold out in Seattle in 2003 and, according to Miller, is scheduled to open off-Broadway this fall, with Bette Midler and Josh Groban starring. But he said he’s been having a hard time getting firm dates and confirmations from the producer. It’s perhaps the biggest thing to happen to one of his compositions and, simultaneously, the most bedeviling.
“I’m so frustrated I’m not getting a straight answer,” he said. “There’s so much great stuff about that show. I know it’s going to occur. The question is when.” "

It was published yesterday apparently so it's fresh but not much more than we already know... except that he's convinced it's still going to happen but have no firm date...

Well Gelf, I just learned from the official Bette Midler website that you imply doesn't exist that there's a dance remix of Fever coming out next week!
Why would they have trouble getting backing for this. I would think it Bette and Josh said they wanted to star in a revival of In My Life anyone would jump on it. Sounds pretty fishy to me.

lol... ok ok... but it's an "official website" maintained by her label, which means only aimed at selling CDs and not very interested in anything unrelated to the CDs... like Broadway shows for instance.
Midler and Groban OffBroadway???
Brian Avnet, Josh's manager posted the following on Josh's website regarding this:
"THERE ARE NO PLANS FOR JOSH TO PERFORM ON OR OFF BROADWAY IN ANY SHOW. WE ARE WORKING ON ALBUM #3 AND LOOKING FORWARD TO JOSH'S NEXT WORLD TOUR."
