quick question -
broadway barks "begin" at 3:30 on 7/8, but the celebrity presentation of the pups doesn't begin until 5:30...so the stars who are a part of the event will be at their matinees, correct?
just double-checking, because i got my parents tickets to see "drowsy" and i would be bummed if they didn't see sutton!
I've never gon3e, but that's most likely true.
What goes on at 3:30? Do they perform?
The actors at Broadway bark will be at the evening shows, right? I am seeing Sweeney Todd on the eight and I really hope the whole cast is there.
The actors will be in both their matinee and evening performances on the day of Broadway Barks. For the first two hours, you get to walk around and go up to the ADORABLE PUPPIES and tell them how cute they are, and there are tables set up for different dog shelters with auctions and literature and really nice people! If you have a dog, bring him/her! Everyone brings their dogs and it's an absolute blast! I've gone for the past 2 years! If you're from out of town and live reasonably close, it's a great excuse to come in for the weekend. The event is free and while you're here, you can catch a show or two.
Broadway Barks is today!

This is my favorite Broadway event of the year! (Could you tell?)
I love the event and last year was my first time attending. It's a celebration for dog lovers everywhere, and, if possible, bring your dogs!!

Can you adopt a dog or do you just make donations? I'll gladly make a donation but I just wanted to know!
You can actually adopt a dog! They bring dogs who are in need of homes. The Broadway actors present each pup to the crowd and give a little background on who they are and where they come from. Starting at 3:30, shelter owners walk around with the prospective pooches and you can tell them how beautiful they are.
You can also make donations to the dog shelters or sign up to volunteer at a shelter. There are many ways to get involved and show support. The first being coming to the event this afternoon!

I'll probably be attending this afternoons festivities. I have a quick question though, are the stars accessible to take pictures with ect.?
I'm really excited to be going!
Broadway Barks was created by Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters and they still run and host the event every year.
From my past experience, stars have not been autograph/photo accessible. They're coming from their matinees, they present, then they have to head back to their theater to eat dinner and get ready for their evening performances.

The celebrities are on the stage with dogs (cats, too). Last year I was able to get some good pictures of them holding the animals. It's a fun event & a very worthy cause!!

Agree, don't count on getting an autograph or personal picture with the performers, even if they aren't going off to get some dinner and return to their theater, they just generally are not available. You can, however, take pictures while they are onstage or waiting around. There must be hundreds of photos of these events.
Don't plan on leaving the event with a pet. I am not an expert, but my understanding is that you must fill out an application with the group from which you want to adopt, and pay the adoption fee. Not sure this all takes place Saturday, you might need to go to the shelter involved.
In any event, it's a great cause, I've gone several times, have participated in a large joint contribution to Broadway Barks, and would be there today to especially show support for Bernadette except for a personal matter.
Just to make sure everyone understands--there are NO performances. The performers come out with the animals, introduce them, and leave.
Mary and Bernadette introduce the performers, talk a bit about what the point of the event is, and there will be a presentation by Animal Planet.

I forgot it's today. I love dogs; I would have liked to go. Oh well. Maybe next year.
I went last year for the sole purpose of playing with puppies. (Okay, and to see Raul HOLD a puppy), but I'm going to go check it out for a little while this year, too... because I love me some puppies and kittens.

Thanks for the update, Katecab99. Do you know of a good website to find pictures?
i left right before the jersey boys came out...
i'm assuming broadway.com and broadwayworld.com will have them. i'm not sure where all the other photographers were from.
They had the cutest puppies. I didn't stay for the stars, I was to busy petting puppies.
I fell in love with a white jack russel named Gypsy.
I almost got her. She is adorable.
I played with dogs for hours and bought so much stuff.
That was a blast.
Anyone there? Did anyone see a cute Jack Russell named GYPSY?
I hope she got a good home with a retired person. She was sooo sweet. She would not stop kissing me.
