It's absolutely perfect for what you're looking for.
It's the most beautiful, wonderful little song.
It can be found on Eric Michael Gillett's "Cast of Thousands: The Songs of Craig Carnelia" CD.

David Friedman's "We Live On Borrowed Time". An Amazing song!!! If you're really "in" it, I find it very difficult to get through without choking up.
