Help! I'm auditioning for colleges this fall and I have had a horrible time looking for monologues. I need something contemporary, for a female in her late teens/early 20's either comedic or dramatic, 1-2 minutes. I keep running into the same monologues I cannot relate to, or are too cliche...help!
Thanks!

I would suggest looking into all the Samuel French or Dramatists Inc. catelogues and looking for plays that way. A good contemporary female play is The Last Flapper (original title: Zelda) by William Luce. Also, Womanspeak is good, if your looking for a short play.

Hi there! I have tons that I can recommend (I was recently at a summer program that focused on college auditions), but are there any basic stats about you that would influence what type of monologue. It's hard otherwise to narrow down. but just kind of basic physicality (in terms of how comfortable you would be getting physical with a monologue) and in addition to many 'color-blind' monologues, I also have a few that are excellent for certain races/ethinicities, etc.. Feel free to PM me or respond here. But otherwise, just start reading plays. Not only may they help you find monologues, but its good to have a steady stream of playwrights and plays running through your head, so that you become more knowledgeable in the area which you presumably want to be studying.
