hey guys...
saw color purple 2nite for the second time....im still amazed and even excited about new changes coming about.
Some Changes already in affect:
-transitions are appearing to be running more smoothly and no choppiness
-dramatic scenes like nettie separation has been heightened tonite was muuuuuch more dramatic for such a big moment
-celie given more dialogue..they are working more on her dinner scene when she leaves mister
I the woman who wrote the music with the dramatic hair told me tonite that they have biiig changes in store and to come back friday or next week and see some major changes.
she told me there was no show on tuesday because they did the oprah show airing of friday
tonite they were just warming back to the show b/c they hadnt done it since sunday and also they had just rehearsed new things that havnt been put in yet...so im excited..folks I really think this show will clean up and prosper and be quite the "event".
My only question is how is lachanze gonna do it 8 nights a week...she screams and belts so much whew...it sends chills thinking about it...but tonite i felt like oh no will this be another tonya pinkins case? high emotional scenes causing damage to the voice...what do u think?

I mentioned my worries about LaChanze's voice in my review of the show. I'm pulling for her and hope she can sustain herself through 8 shows a week, but this is a VERY demanding role.
margo is this a strong mix the gurls got or is she belting those high high notes....do u think that she does so many it makes "im here" not as exciting because shes hit so many high notes before...takes away from the 11' oclock number in my opinion
Yikes, LaChanze is great singer, but not one I would say has a voice of steel. I know she's had vocal problems doing shows in the past. Here's hoping she stays healthy!
i also heard that DaQuina Moore from Lil shop was seen for Nettie...dunno if she got it...I wanted Trisha Jeffery to get it but she was seen for Squeak.....who knows!?
I hope Daquenia gets it...ooooh I really do..cause she truly is GREAT talent...really she is...I've been following her since CAMP..and Little Shop...oooooh how I hope they let her do it.
I have also wondered how LaChanze will fare with such a demanding role. Along with the vocal strains caused by the role, she also has those pesky health problems that caused her to miss half of the performances of Dessa Rose. I'm pulling for her...
