*through gritted teeth*

The record label that recorded The Capeman decides whether to put the cast recording on CD, not iTunes.

I've got The Capeman on CD. Somebody just isn't very good at eBay. :P

(No, it's not a *totally* official release, but it predates the iTunes release and doesn't appear to be a simple copy either. Even if it is, I don't care *that* much. XD)

A new year would not be complete without Bryan issuing his normal statement about putting shows on CD.

Is come on Ghostlight next?

Oh, Bryan. I think your talent and enthusiasm would make a good TV show. Who else agrees?

I agree with theatre2's original point: it would be better for collectors if DRG would release titles that have not been released before. DRG has a bunch of Broadway titles scheduled for February but only Maggie Flynn is new to CD. So, yes, record labels, give us Jimmy and The Zulu And The Zayda and Don't Bother Me, I Can't Cope and ..... etc., etc.

I was surprised when DRG announced MAGGIE FLYNN. I mean thgat cast album was virtually released to teh cut-out bins.

I think DRG bringing back some titles that have already had a shot on CD may be questionable financially (unles sthey get a really good deal with the original labels) but let's be practical...how many copies of JIMMY wor ZULU AND THE ZAYDA would they sell? 50? Maybe 100? (Speaking of DRG does anyone know what happened with their release of ILLYA DARLING? It has been announced and cancelled several times.)

I find that among the newer Broadway fans there is surpringly little interest in the classic hits, let alone the obcure flops.

As for CRY BABY I'm afraid that all we'll ever get was the demo, which was not sold in stores but is widely circulated.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
