the musical is similar to the film verson, isn't it? I mean the Love sneaks in number and the next song prove that both men fall in love with the girl, like in the movie.

Norbert Leo Butz quotes about John Lithgow: "He's really clumsy. One of the joys in life is to watch a great big huge man totally wipe out backstage. It takes John about three minutes to hit the floor. It's like watching a Great Sequoia falling gracelessly."

The musical is based on the film version and is pretty faithful to it.

Grace: I just gave a quarter to a homeless man. I think it was Johnny Depp.

I tried renting it last night. I was excited when I found the cover, but there was nothing behind it. I was SO upset. re: dirty rotten question

I want to write music. I want to sit down right now at my piano and write a song that people will listen to and remember and do the same thing every morning...for the rest of my life. - Jonathan Larson. Tick, Tick...BOOM!

I liked the Steve Martin movie but that wasn't the original. That was a classic David Niven-Marlon Brando-Shiley Jones comedy.

The Niven/Brando version from 1964 was entitled Bedtime Story, if anyone's going to look for it.

I saw the show today and loved it! You walk into the theater and AFTER they chack your ticket, you go through the doors and are handed the free CD. As I just got it, I haven't heard it but I'm sure it's great. By the way, John Lithgow signed everything peopler gave him, someone even gave him a Spamalot playbill and he signed it. He was very gracious and appreciative. Norbert was also very nice and his two daughters were waiting while he signed and were very funny, telling everyone their dad is nuts. Greg Jbara was very polite and thanked everyone for waiting on the street. Joanna gleason took forever so I left, as did most people.

Are they handing out the entire CD, or just parts of it?

don't hold your breath waiting for Joanna Gleason. She is one of the least fan-friendtly performers I've ever seen.

They are giving out a "special edition" that contains all the songs in the show, except the reprise of "what is a woman to do" and the entre d'act. There is an insert with some pictures and a track listing.
The official release will have a couple bonus tracks and a booklet with lyrics.
I love Joanna, no need to get into the arguement about weather the performers need to necessarily do stage door, I understand and respect the arguement that they should, I just personally disagree. The man at the door said she never comes out there. She did sign the cd at the launch party and was friendly and gracious. Norbert and John are incredibly sweet at the stage door, I love that story about Norbert's kids.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

Okay, that must be the thing that my friend sent me. I can't wait for the OBCR to come out, b/c I have been listening to the CD nonstop.

Love is my Legs is one of the funniest things ever, you should see the insanity. Ruprecht and Great Big Stuff are the visually just breath stealling laugh out loud killers though!

The show is FANTABULOUS!
Still haven't seen the films - nor do I want to. Norbert and Sherie were too perfect for me to even want to see Steve Martin and Glen Headley in those roles. Besides, I've seen so many Martin movies, that I'm more than sure he did nothing different in the film.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I think Sherie's voice steals the show.

The show is great--I saw it after it first opened and then this past Saturday. If anything, the show is even better and more enjoyable the 2nd time around. If you are a Norbert fan, you will love this show--he gets to show his outrageous talents. But other than his standout performance, I truly feel this is an ensemble piece and every performer is great. Go see it--David Yazbek's songs and Jeffery Lane's book are hilarious!

JMVR-When did you see the show? Sundays?

I can't, I don't live in New York. But I will order the cd.
