I thought this might be of intrest to some of our board members: There is a dance benefit, supporting BC/EFA coming up starring Taye, with music by Idina... Also in the dance cast is Aiko N., an original cast member of 'Rent' as well.
I can't believe that no one has said anything about this yet... on either side of the Wicked aisle. It's Taye, performing to Idina's music!! People... is this thing on?
I remember hearing about this a while ago, and hearing that Taye and Idina were involved the production of it, but that neither of them would be performing. Don't know what's true, though.
Says for the $150 for the first night, you get to go to a party with the performers and Taye will be there. No mention if Idina will be there, i'd imagine she would be though. The $40 ticket for the following day is just the performance, no party with the performers.
It looks like from what the invite says neither of them seem to be performing. The cost is too much for me unfortunately, I will have to settle for drooling over Taye Diggs on Kevin Hill for the time being .
heard about it awhile ago, i am going on sunday. very exciting!
A dancer might dream to see her name in lights and mean it,
but all she really dreams is to make someone
else feel the way she did when she first saw a dancer.
And that is so beautiful-Anonymous
I was at the Monday night show. It was interesting. The theater was small, but very nice and unfortunately (since it was raising money for dancers responding to aids) it was not that crowded. The first act was choreographed by Taye and was all separate performances. I believe it was called mixed tape. The dancers were good, and at the time I felt the choreography was decent. The second act was choreographed by Andrew Palermo (Taye's friend for many years and also Wicked cast member). His act was a cohesive story called "american", I think. It started out on 9/11 and went through the war in iraq. I thought the music choices were great and the choreography was much more intricate. it made taye's look amateurish. it got a little heavy-handed at the end, it incorporated a video showing injured iraqi children, women crying, etc. but all in all, i was impressed.
and both taye and andrew were there. they sat in the back, where i was sitting. it's official, taye diggs may be the hottest human being on the planet.
