feeling helpful??

I have just finished a degree in Media studies. I have been offered a job by an independent t.v company as a producer. However last year I caught the acting bug whilst doing a student film. I am focusing on my acting career now and I think that being a producer would be too time consuming. What do you think is the best field of work for an actor? If there are any actors reading then do you have another job? Can I get some advice please.
Thank you.

This has become a big cliché, but a lot of actors work as waiters because of the flexible hours. I guess if you can find work at a fairly high-end place, the money isn't bad either.

There are "off hours" jobs at many TV and Film production & post facilities. Many of them have 24-hour staffing to fill their clients' needs. If you want to keep looking for acting work during the day, you might also "get your feet wet" in a television or film facility at the same time. I'm not talking about producer work, because that's a full-time job and you would need to be available at all hours (unfortunately), but night management positions of various levels are an option for you.

If I had it to do over again, I'd get trained to be a tradesman of some kind: electrician, plumber, welder...a skill that is always needed and reaps lots of $$$...

I would hate to see anyone give up a sure thing but that's just me being cautious. I would say take the job for now.
