except I live 3 1/2 hours away from NYC...which poses a problem.

There is a video released of this with William Katt, Ben Vereen and Chita Rivera among others. It's a great video as it tapes a live performance and still captures the feel of it being a live performance, not a movie version of the show.
I'm sure you could probably find it on amazon or something, and definitely within the library system. Check it out there and get it off of that :)
