re: first preview of Lestat..any news?

A friend of mine is going today. I'l let you know if it sounds like there have been changes since Sunday...

You can also go to www.broadway.yahoo.com and then click on the Lestat sign to see/hear some of the cast singing.

I cannot wait! I'm seeing it on Xmas Eve and I'll post my review as soon as I can.

If I remember correctly, I'm sitting row D, dead center. I dunno though.

Row D is great. Have fun, I'm curious to hear what state it will be in after a week of performances!

I'm reallly dissapointed to hear all the negative Lestat feedback. I'm praying for a complete turn around of events before broadway. I wanted this to be an excellent show with all my heart... at least as good as Aida. There must be some ancient curse on vampires mixing with musical theatre. Can nobody get it right? God damn. Please become good Lestat.

re: first preview of Lestat..any news?

I saw the show tonight, and I... honestly have no idea what I just saw. The cast is excellent but the show just feels like a lot of exposition to me. There aren't a lot of memorable songs, there are a number of laughable moments (and not in a good way), there's too much going on with not enough reason, the ensemble feels wasted, and I just felt like they were pushing too hard to make the audience feel it was epic instead of actually making it epic.

I don't want to be too harsh because the show is early in previews, and I do have to repeat that the cast is excellent. However, I do think the show needs major revisions.

Please become good Lestat.

Good choice of words. Because right now, it's definitely not. It can only "become."

EMBRAAAAAACE IT!

re: first preview of Lestat..any news?

I thought that the shows were pretty polished, given the fact that they only rehearsed for about 2 months and are into less than a week of previews. Granted there are changes that need to be made. In fact, one song has already been cut out (as Hugh points out..."we see the wolf fight, then we talk about the wolf fight, do we even need to sing about the wolf fight?). LOL! The cast and crew are working extremely hard to make this a success. Seven scene changes were made for this evening's performance alone. Poor cast members must be so exhausted!
