freaking out-next year's high school musical just announced

aww im sorry! not my favorite show but sometimes you have to make the best of it

I've done it twice, too. The first time was at my high school, which is Catholic...thus, not a single Jew. The second time, I played Tzeitel, and I am FAR from Jewish. There was one Jew in the show, and she was in the chorus.

As far as Tevyes go, you never know...ours at school turned out to be a guy who'd never once done a show, wasn't in any choirs at school, and was AMAZING. Don't freak out, it's a fun show with lots of roles, and one of those baritones may surprise you. :)

we're doing fiddler on the roof as well...woohoo (said in sarcastic tone)...i'm jewish, but i really really really don't look jewish, oh well hopefully i'll be in our touring musical which is going to NYC.

Our high school just did Fiddler, saw it in NY last August and could not see how the director would find all the boys. Was not really excited about the show choice at all. Ended up with a cast of 12 girls and 18 boys! It was a great performance and while we certainly have no Jewish in our school, it is a great way to learn about another culture. And it ended up being one of my family's favorite shows after seeing it. (The youngest daughter was in show.) The director even staged it similarly to Broadway show with roof from above and sort of bare staging with trees. Probably one of our best shows ever and we have great drama dept (because of director and facility)Have a good time.

And what's the deal, you all are great actors and actresses, right? That's what it is about.

i think its most definitely possible. considering its done by soo many schools (including religious) it must be quite flexible.


and as im writing this i'm singing the "a fiddler with no jew" song from Forbidden Broadway SVU.....

The childrens theatre I work with is doing it in the fall. I have two other shows I'm auditioning for as well but if I don't get the role I want in either of those I'm aiming for Golde.
