this is so exciting!!! the full artical is up on broadway.com. they said its a mini tour what ever that is?? the sad part is that it is only playing 2 citys
i hope it come to broadway with her in it!!!! what do you guys think??? :)
OH MY GOD!!! this is exciting, if its true. Aw i can just see her now in that show, rubbing elbows with lilias white. Oh i'm creaming my pants already. I was in that show this februrary and my love for it has only grown. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay FRENCHIE!!!
It is a 3 city tour, Seattle, San Jose and Sacramento. There have been rumors of a DREAMGIRLS revival on Broadway but that would be seperate production.
Of course the producers of said revival could go out and see this production and just decide to bring it in!

I seriously doubt that this is the production that would come to Broadway... However Frenchie could very well do the show on Broadway. I am fairly sure she is doing this to put her in a better position to do that.

I guess I will have to go home and visit my folks and tell them to get me tickets
when she sang "and i am telling you" on ET she ROCKED the roof off my house :)
I find Frenchie really loud and obnoxious at times.
I'd like to hear her sing something soft and sweet.

I think she is pretty well cast for this role. I mean come on it was meant to be.... MAYBE
the girl is big does not mean she can play Effie
she cannot act nor sing "AITY" well
If you wanna see 'Soft and sweet,' see her as the Bag Lady in Rent
.
i agree that just because she is big doesn't mean she can play effie, but think that she could play that role on maybe the tour. But when it comes to the bottom line, the goddess, lilias white has got that role up and down, when it comes broadway time. Have we heard the concert versian. When Ms. White steps on stage its over people, its over.

Lillias White is now too old to "play" Effie. Yes, she sings the hell out of it. I saw her in the Broadway return engaement before Michael Bennett dies and she was great.
Eiife and the girls are supposed to start the show at 17! MS. White is clearly double + then some of that age!!!
yeah deena, i know. its sad but theres still hope and make up right. lol. I see you've modeled your screen name after the fabulous character of deena. Sheryl lee ralph, oh yeah. Even miss Loretta Divine was to die, when i found out that she played lorrell i almost had a fit. I'd love to see those three together again, just for a picture or something. It'd be an amazing sight i think.
sending much love,

I think that Frenchie has a good voice, and she can act pretty well, but her attitude has completely turned me off. It's one thing to not want to deal with your admirers because I don't believe that actors always HAVE to be gracious after a performance, but I have never once seen her be appreciative or respectful to her fans. She walks around with her nose in the air like she is God's gift to Broadway, and if someone dares to stop her, she gives them a glare and if she does sign or take a picture, it's usually with an attitude. More than once, I've heard her do the "I am a human being" speech to people trying to meet her. So her talent may get her places, but her attitude needs a lot of work.

Um...both times I've seen her in Rent, Frenchie was very nice afterward. I saw her on something like her 4th performance, and I don't think the celebrity hounds were in force yet...I didn't even know who she was at the time. I just told her everybody was great, and she was gracious. The second time I saw her, she came out and was friendly with the fans. Just to give a little perspective.

I'm glad to hear that, actually. I've never specifically tried to speak to her myself, it's just what I've witnessed, but I still get the idea she is quite a diva.

My favorite picture of her tho has to be in People magazine or maybe it was US Magazine. She is poured into this really tight t-**** and it says "HOOTERS" across them. My mom was looking at the magazine and said "Well yes they are... no one can deny her that much" I laughed for hours
LOL!!!! TOO MUCH HOOTERS if you ask me.

...on a lighter note... no pun intended.
Maybe she will rock us all. I mean look at Jennifer Holliday. She basically was a nobody when she played EFFIE.
Maybe....but some people go on about Frenchie as if she's the second coming. Girl can definitely blow, but I don't think she is a STAR just yet. I think she still has some more work to do before I can definitely feel that she is going to be just right for the role. Just my humble opinion.

true but maybe brenda braxton will diva bitch slap her from here to sacramento... seeing as Brenda can be the diva she want to be.
I've been a fan of this woman for a while. She's no Jen so I'm not even going to go there, but I think she could be good in the role. She can sing and she's had more acting training than Jen had when she took on the role.
And as far as her attitude, she's always come across as having a quiet confidence about her. I know she can get loud, but if you watch her before or after performances you'll notice it. Even if she is a diva oh well. Maybe that will add more drama to this production like the old DG.
There's nothing wrong with being a diva. And I think she's wonderful too.....she's just not there yet....you know what I mean...she's not a STAR yet....but she WILL get there, because she has the talent, the presence, and just an interesting personality that will always gravitate attention towards her, and get people talking. I wish her all the best....
